Tutankhamun

Howard Carter was the one who found Tutankhamun’s tomb. He was hired by Lord Carnarvon. Howard Carter had been trying to find Tutankhamun’s tomb for a long time so Lord Carnarvon thought he was spending too much money. But Howard Carter said he would try just one more day for free. So Lord Carnarvon agreed and it just happened that he found Tutankhamun’s tomb that very day in 1922.

Their was lots of objects in King Tutankhamun’s tomb. Most of them were made out of gold. Their were over fifty pure gold objects in his tomb. They also put games in his tomb like Sennat. The Ancient Egyptians believed that in all the pharoah’s afterline they lived with the sungod. They also believed that the games in his tomb he would play on his journey to the sungod.

The two things that I can think of why this discovery is so important to the world is one, because only two tom robbers had entered his tomb so almost all the information was still in his tomb, so they know alot more about ancient Egypt then they did before. Two, because alot of people were inspirted by that find, so archeology became alot more popular.

Ozymandias

I met a traveller from an antique land,
Who said- "Two vast and trunkless legs of stone
Stand in the desert.... Near them, on the sand,
Half sunk a shattered visage lies, whose frown,
And wrinkled lip, and sneer of cold command,
Tell that its sculptor well those passions read
Which yet survive, stamped on these lifeless things,
The hand that mocked them, and the heart that fed;
And on the pedestal, these words appear:
My name is Ozymandias, King of Kings,
Look on my Works, ye Mighty, and despair!
Nothing beside remains. Round the decay
Of that colossal Wreck, boundless and bare
The lone and level sands stretch far away."

Nothing Gold Can Stay

Nature's first green is gold,
Her hardest hue to hold.
Her early leaf's a flower;
But only so an hour.
Then leaf subsides to leaf.
So Eden sank to grief,
So dawn goes down to day.
Nothing gold can stay.

Jack

My parents got Jack in Nightmute Alaska for my mom’s birthday. A family there was giving puppies away for free. We do not know what type of dog he is.
He has brownish, greenish eyes and is white, black, brown, and tan on his body. His legs are white.
When we go away for trips like when we went to Virginia, Kerry, our babysitter stayed at our house to take care of Jack. When we get home from long trips like what I just talked about, Jack is so crazy because we were gone for so long. He jumps up and tries to lick us, and is running after us. It takes him a while to calm down.
It is no fun sometimes like at bedtime my parents won’t let me play with Jack because they don’t want me to get him riled up. I think it’s okay but my parents don’t.
He is very mild and seems like he just wants to lie down and sleep for the whole day. It kind of is that way. Sometimes he wants to play with us but not always. My dad is best at getting him to play.
The toys we have for Jack are rubber bones and a duck that is in its shell and when you squeeze it, it pops its head out and sqeaks. His favorite toy is the duck.
Jack is funny dog because he does not want to eat out of a dog bowl; he likes to eat on the floor or out of our hands. He hardly ever eats out of the bowl.
Sometimes Jack climbs up the the fence and then jumps down on the other side. We have to go after him in the car because he won’t come to us if we just go outside and try to get him. He only comes if we go in our Prius. A Prius is a type of car.
I don’t know why but my parents hardly ever brush his teeth. Maybe because it’s a really yucky job.
His toenails are the same way with his teeth. They hardly ever clip them. Sometimes we have to take him to the vet to clip his nails there. We also go there to give Jack shots.
I think Jack is the best dog ever. I would never want a different dog.

A Coat

William Bulter Yeats

I made my song a coat
Covered with embroideries
Out of old mythologies
From heel to throat;
But the fools caught it,
Wore it in the world's eyes
As though they'd wrought it.
Song, let them take it,
For there's more enterprise
In walking naked.

Dreams

Hold fast to dreams
For if dreams die
Life is a broken-winged bird
That cannot fly.

Hold fast to dreams
For when dreams go
Life is a barren field
Frozen with snow.

Trickster Tales

"She slammed the door. The animals looked at each other. Brer Rabbit had given them another memory."
I think trickster tales are very funny and interesting. Once you start reading one you cannot stop.
The main characters are Brer Rabbit, Brer Bear, Brer Wolf, and Brer Fox. Brer Rabbit is a funny and sometimes mean trickster. There are a lot of stories in the Uncle Remus books with him in it. "Brer" means brother. Brer Fox sometimes tricks Brer Rabbit but most of the time Brer Fox plans on tricking Brer Rabbit , getting even with Brer Rabbit, but Brer Rabbit ends up tricking Brer Fox because he is very tricky. Brer Bear and Brer Wolf are the same with with Brer Fox.
My favorite trickster tales are, well, I like all the trickster tales.
My favorite character is Brer Rabbit because he is the one who is always tricking everybody.
I think trickster tales are better than any other stories.

Ban Sugar Treats or Not

Do you think schools should ban sugary treats?
I'm writing why schools should ban sugar treats or why they should not. The reasons why schools should ban sugar treats are: one, because some kids are allergic to sugar. Two, because sugar is bad for your teeth. Three, because when the kids eat them they litter the wrappers on the floor. Four, because when the kids eat them they spill crumbs on the floor. Five, and final, because they would get all hyper.
The only way that I can think why they should not ban sugar treats is that probably some kids don't get to have sugar treats at their house. A solution to eating the sugar stuff would be to make the kids eat sugar-free stuff.
I think they should ban sugar treats because I can't think of any other ways why they should not ban sugar stuff.

Martin Luther King

Martin Luther King was a great leader and inspired lots of people to stand up and help others instead of just sitting there watching it all happen. Martin Luther King meant for me and others to have freedom and stop wars with peaceful ways.
Dr. King meant for my life and others' lives to be great and serve others. He wants us to do that by recognizing that "he who is greatest among you shall be your servant. That is the new definition of greatness..."
What I do to serve others in my life is by sometimes going to Channel One to volunteer to send foods to people who hardly have any food at all. What I could be doing is volunteering more. I also could serve others by going with my dad to the Ronald McDonald house more often.
In the future what I could to to serve others is to be an actual volunteer at the Ronald McDonald house. I could also volunteer at Channel One a lot more.
I know a person who is great and serves others. Her name is Kerry Rude. She volunteers at Rideability. Rideability is a place where kids with handicaps can come and ride horses. She also volunteers at the Oak Center. The Oak Center is a store you can go upstairs and there will be music. Kerry sometimes tells kids stories.
I think Martin Luther King is a great person.

The Trip To The River

I was in Virginia with my cousins playing around when the grownups announced that we were going to the river. I didn't want to go but the grownups persuaded me. We started to walk down to the river. I soon learned that this was going to be really fun. Once we got there we had a little snack. Then we tried to find a way across the river. Finally my cousin Logan and I found a way across on some rocks. We went across them. I was the second to last one. My cousin was the last one. Right before I jumped to the bank, my cousin accidentally pushed me. I fell into the stream. I was soaked to the bone. We kept on going. After awhile my pants dried off. Then we found a patch of bamboo. We broke ten pieces of the patch, cut off the leaves and went home. Then we set up a pole vaulting contest. Then we threw and caught spears. After a few more days, I went home.
